Dash and running lights on with Key??

when I turn my key on, the dash and running lights turn on. I would prefer it didnt do this. is there something wired wrong in my headlight switch?

NOT supposed to do this.
The light switch has nut'n to do with the ign switch.

agreed.. any ideas on how to chase the cause of this? it is a little ways off for now.. just thought about it today and wanted to get a thread started.

would it be prudent to start looking into a new wiring harness?

Agree w/ LG .find out the source. many times they are wired that way for safety via a relay or who knows. our work trucks at the telcom I was at had all there vehicle wired to have headlights on when ignition was on.

good idea, I will look into it when i get a chance.. probably not too worried about it until i get the jeep running and driving. that is my first priority.
