Just wondering who uses there cj for a daily driver and who has a weekend warrior.
As most of you know mines more trail jeep than DD so I guess I'm a WW.

Mine was a DD for a long time and now it's just for fun but I enjoy going places in my jeep enough that I will not be likely to hurt it's road worthiness for the sake of the trail. so I propose a third classification the WD, weekend driver. :chug:

Mine is a BO...Backyard Ornament!

That's what I love about this site, Good info, serious people with good insight and then THIS^^^:laugh::laugh:

Back to the serious...My CJ is weekend or really vacation type use but roadworthyness is part of the equation as I need to travel down the road to get to the offroad part, "Exploration rated" were ever that takes me so it needs to be the best of both worlds and of course that makes for compromise at each end.

ww and a statue during the week

Mine is currently residing in the garage, in various pieces. It will be more of a weekend warrior/drive when I get the itch.

Occasional daily driver, I guess

Mine is a OD. Occasional Driver but now that I have a CJ8 one of them will more likely become a DD in the summer and the other will be a WW.

When I said WW I guess I really ment WD or OD as I believe we all have jeep that are street legal here. I also drive mine on the street when the weather is nice and the feeling is right.:)
So far it doesn't seem to many of us use our cj's for DD's.

i have broken so many 20 year old parts on mine i wouldnt want it as a dd until every part was new. i drive 40+ miles to work everyday and would want to break down between here and work cause it is all farmland. plus my accord gets way better milage.

I drive the Salvage CJ7 to work everyday. Its only 24 mi. round trip. It let me down once but I nursed her home. That was more my fault though as the problem was a wasted vacuum line.

The Scrambler is shaping into just being the Summer fun vehicle. No road salt required. The CJ7 will take on the trail run / work commute duties.

^^^ i guess me and you are the only bad <-BAD WORD-> hard core dedicated non wussy cj owners pete :D. rain, sleet, shine, snow, ice, mud, cold, hot it don't matter i go in the cj. went camping over the weekend, the wife and i loaded up and she has the nerve to say to me "lets drive my jeep its quiet, comfortable, and warm" i said to her "hell no you got a new seat to set in what more can you ask for"

^^^ Now thats funny. Kids at football practice were actually making jokes about me finally putting the doors on after a few rainy days. I go to work alot for 3am and temps have hit the 30s already. Thats a bit cold for me. 50s is fine but its time for all the windows to be in.

I have been gathering parts for quite awhile now. Some of that "hardcore" image will be taking a hit soon. That being said it'll be a long time before a Cj isnt my daily driver.

same here buddy :chug:

My CJ5 is a weekend warrior.
It's built for off roading: 35 inch tires, no anti-sway bars, low gearing. It doesn't do so well on pavement.
On the other hand I also wanted to make sure it was street legal. I didn't want a toy that had to be trailered to a playground. I want to go somewhere with my jeep. I head up over the mountains with my CJ. When I descend into the next town there is always the sign that says "No Unlicensed Vehicles beyond this point".
There are also times when I go over the mountains and down onto a highway. I want to take that highway to the next jeep trail. I don't like going back on the same trial I just drove on an hour ago.

I actually drive it almost everyday on short drives. When I develope more confidence in it I will increase the length of my weekend drives at least until it gets to cold.

If you DD your CJ would you still want to get online and talk more CJ when you get home from work? :D
I think you'd be to tired and sore for that..;)

Our 83 CJ7 is 100% percent DD, as it has been our only vehicle for about 2 months now, and will be until my fiance gets his tranny fixed in his 99 Ranger
