ON THE HUNT AGAIN
I went by a dealer yesterday to look at a truck.
The guy gives me attitude and acts all high and mighty
right from the start, like he's better than me and knows
more about cars than me, talking out his arse.
Then the guy wanted to appraise my jeep, I figured WTH
i'll see what he's willing to give just for S&G.
He looks it over then asks can I get the keys,
I said for what? So I can drive it, see how it runs, and
test the 4wd. I said "No". He was like why not. I said
I'm particular about who drives my jeep. He said how do
you expect me to buy something if I can't drive it? What
would you say if I told you you couldn't drive that truck.
I said I'm not gonna drive it until I decide to buy it that
will be the deciding factor of if I buy it. He says so your
not gonna let me drive the jeep. I said nope. He gets all
pissed. He's the manager btw. I sit down with the salesman
the manager sends out his "best" offer for the jeep at $3000
not having driven it. I wheel and deal in the end he offers
$4000 for the jeep still not driven. I go out look at the truck again
and come back inside. The manager is now sitting where the salesman
was and the salesman is standing. I walk up and say:
"Nope not gonna buy the truck, the problems with the truck make the
value less than that of my jeep."
I turn to leave:
"Oh, BTW people like you are the reason, I don't let people drive my jeep"

He was pissed, LOL.

I know my jeeps value and so does he, he wanted to give me attitude like
he's mister bigshot and talk down to me from the start. That's the main
reason he didn't get to drive the jeep. I know a jackass when I see one.
He's telling me all this BS about the truck, like the spec's and is totaly
wrong liek what Transmission is in it, the HP and TQ of a 6.0L.

Anyone else have a dealer story!

So I go into the dealer to look at a new Rubicon
he ask for my ID and I hand it to him, I then ask for it back and he kinda ignores me, I pull my cell phone and start to call the cops, he ask what I am doing and I say I am reporting the theft of my Drivers License.
He returns my license, then before even letting me drive the jeep he ask for my SSI, well I have life lock and I give him it knowing he cannot even get a rating.
He comes back and says I have to verify so the can run my credit
I tell him I do not want him to run my credit yet, we have not arrived at a price. So he ask how we can arrive at a payment without knowing my credit
I tell him without arriving at a price, I do not care to talk payments, I need a price first so I know what I am paying for.
He then suggest we drive the Jeep, I tell him I am not interested in driving the jeep until we arrive at a price. I think he was trying to hook me.
So he ask about my trade, I tell him I wasn't going to trade anything.
So now he is looking at me and he decides to turn me over to the sales manager.
Sales manager ask me about the blue Jeep
I told him only a pimp from Watts would drve a blue jeep and I was interested in a yellow jeep. they had no yellow Rubicons so I asked if they would check inventory they could trade for.
I was told without a pending deal he could not check, I replied that I could not make a deal on a jeep I could not see.
He told me that I was being difficult, I informed him I was not, I just did not see why I had to agree to buy something I could not see.
Next they go and find a Yellow rubicon at another of the dealerships they own, but it has full doors, Once again I state I want a yellow Rubicon, soft top, half doors.
He replies that they do not make Rubicons with half doors, I show him a build sheet off the Jeep website that says they do.
He agrees that he should look get his facts strait and I ask for a higher member of the dealership at which time I get the asst manager. I once again state I want a Yellow Rubicon with soft top and half doors.
Well he finds me one he can get but will not even trade for it without a agreement to buy. I state we have not talked price yet so he ask for my SSI, once again I am told it is locked down and I need to verify. I tell him we have not arrived at a price yet.
He tells me to leave the dealership.

what is up, because I know what I am willing to pay, am willing to drive, and will not be put into a vehicle they decide to put me in for the price they will not tell me, I am being difficult?

I won't say all dealers are crooks, but you just have to arm your selves... As you did... :)

A few years back I roll up on a dealership.
I'm walking around and a saleman who I find out
later is the sales manager, says can I help you.
I say yeah I'm looking to get a new "used" vehicle.
He says well we have some nice ones, then looks
around and says here let me show you this one
then leads me back to my own car and says we just
got this one in on trade. I said no you didn't, kinda joking.
He looks at me and says don't tell me what we do and don't have.
(i have a bad temper btw) I said mother f$&%#r, this happens to
be my damn car. Get the manager! The manager comes out giving
me an attitude, I said he just try to sell me my own car, the gave me
attitude when I explained it was my car. The manager says which car?
I said the one I'm getting in to leave. I get in the car start it and drive away.
I noticed them kinda jogging behind me, I was like I'm done with this conversation
and just left. 10min later sitting on the side of the road I'm having to prove to the
cop I own my car. The cop was like WTF, they're idiots. He let me go and went
back to the delaer to explain their mistake.

I shoulda sued.

^^^^Now thats funny right there! ^^^^

Brock are you saying they called in your car as stolen hence false report?
Yea false report/detainment= lawsuit :D

yeah they thought I was stealing it.
I was young still in the USAF, more temper than brains.
Now days I'd own 'em.

Bought a Mustang Cobra once for half it's worth, using
a misprinted ad, clamed false advertisement and bait
and switch, they caved gave me the car for the asking price
and asked me to never visit them again, LOL.

Mustang cobra? Beautiful. Good move.

I've never had a good experience at a dealership, not my jeep, not any other vehicle. You would think since they are trying to sell you something they would be a little more willing to be realistic but instead they act like customers are a dime a dozen; I bet they wish that was true because lately I've seen the majority of dealerships closing. The few that are left open give me the impression they are the better ones.

I know some people wonder about the things I talk about, so.
I had just made a 3000 mile trip from SC to Monterey, CA. that's why it's dirty.
Back when I was younger and had more hair, LOL.
