I know I know...it's another suspension question :) I feel like I've read a thousand of them trying to find the answer to my question. Thanks for taking the time to post, especially if you have either of these lifts on your CJ.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the 500 (sport lift) and 700 (standard lift) skyjacker lifts?

The 700 one is part # SJ-J20KN and is advertised as a 2 inch lift but when looking at the specs it says lift height is 2.5 inches of lift. It comes with nitro shocks.

The 500 one is part # SJ-J22BKH is a 2.5 inch lift. It comes with hydro shocks.

The part #'s are from Morris 4x4 website. Interestingly enough the part #'s do not match SJ's website, nor does the official SJ website offer a "budget" 2.5 lift. They only show 3 at 800-900 range.

I'm asking because I just picked up an 84 CJ7 bone stock that has been sitting for 5 years because of a blown motor. The new motor should be here at the end of the week, but I've been looking at the bushings on this thing and they really need to be replaced. So I'm going to have to drop the leafs anyway, but I can really only afford about 500 bucks on a lift. Trying to save money, but I won't go for rough country or pro comp etc.

Most of what I've read seems to point to BDS or SJ if I can't afford a RE, OME, etc., lifts. So I guess I really have two questions. 1. Should I wait till I can afford the BDS or 700 dollar SJ and just change the bushings on my current springs. and 2 Does anyone know the difference on the kits above? If it's just shocks I can live with that. I'm mostly going to be driving this on the street and weekend wheeling so I want it to have some road manners.

Thanks again,

James

From the way I'm reading it, it sounds like the "sport" is a new spring they are making now.
The shocks aren't that much different in price, so I think it's different springs.
A call to skyjacker or morris might get you something.

Calling them is a good idea. I have no idea why i did not think of that: too much time on forums I suppose...I'll try that on monday. Thanks for the reply...

LOL! ...yeah, I should have guessed there was an easy answer.

I called SJ today and they said (of course) that they would recommend the $780 one on the CJ because the Standard is their soft ride version and the Sport version are cheaper springs so they sell them at a lower cost. They said if I didn't like my kidney's then the sport was for me :)

They seem to be nice people over there at SJ. But that price is the same as BDS and from what I can gather from the internet (thanks to Al Gore of course) is that I'll be happier with the BDS setup over the SJ.

Thanks for the responses it's appreciated. It's nice to be back in Jeep ownership again and wondering what my wallet wants to upgrade next.
