Current project imported DJ5D (1975)
Hi All,
Bit of a newbie to both these forums and in particular which site I should be directing my questions to
Have a 1975 DJ5D, stock standard, going through the steering at the moment, reconditioned steering box, new universals, new bronze bushes in steering column, drag links straightened etc. This old girl has 11 inch drum brakes on the front and wouldn't mind swapping in a set of CJ discs, rotors, calipers etc. I should be able to source a set off a later model, but not sure exactly what would fit my stubs. Being an unpowered front axle, can I simply undo my drum brakes at the upper and lower pivot points? What about the hubs themselves? Obviously would have to seal off where the live axle shaft goes through the centre of the totor/hub? Or would I be better off trying to import the complete Disc brake set off a later model DJ? Would imagine that they (later DJ's) would have come out with factory fitted disc brake front ends, not exactly rare over your way, thin on the ground here.
Thanks for any help,
Dave 64
