1980 Jeep CJ7,304 with a th400 automatic transmission, amc 20 in the rear dana 30 front and a dana 300 transfer case
I bought a set of YJ half doors to use on my CJ and I need to put a door striker on in order to use them
The door strikers that I have seen pictures of do not look like they will work. Can I just buy the pin and use that or are they different sizes...or will a set of CJ Hard Door strikers work on the YJ half doors

Also can some one take a picture of the seat belts on a YJ and send it to me so I can see how they bolt to the body. I am installing them on my CJ but Im not sure how they mount to the body

Thanks for the help
Mike

My Jeep is a 1980 CJ7

Do you have strikers already in the jeep? They should be the right ones

The bracket for the pin is kind of triangular shaped .....don't have a picture of it but will get one when I get off work Monday

I only have soft doors and they don't use the striker pin.
I am worried that the triangle shaped door striker for the YJ wont mount without fabricating something to bolt it to.

Here are some YJ mounting of the seat belts. Hope they help.
P.S I don't know why they load sideways

Also got the door strikers. Try posting a picture if what you have.it will help others understand what you need better. And here's a picture of a YJ striker. Looks the same as the striker on my 79
CJ7 .

Mid-year ( god love ya AMC :( ) '81 and older CJ's used the twist handle on the doors. The tub did not have a striker pin just a thicker metal plate to hold the latch. An upgrade to later CJ/YJ 'paddle" handled doors is not uncommon and just requires that those strikers be installed.

If the pic above is on a '79 it is not original and has been swapped for later doors/latches. Below is the striker for '81-older CJ, the interior side latch assembly & exterior handle for the early CJ7 followed by the later CJ/YJ Paddle door striker and an exterior shot of the paddle door:

That picture is from a YJ. I assume that the PO of my CJ installed the paddle style doors from a newer CJ or a YJ. They have another color coming through the paint.

I need a interior latch for Ashley's '80 CJ7 , not the pin type.

Is there a write up on how to do this mod. I don't understand how to add a paddle (exterior) and clamp on the door to latch to the pin.

Thanks,
Jim
