If you could put all the parts together to build a jeep from different years to build the ultimate OEM jeep. What years and what parts would you select from different model years.

Ha! I'd cheat. I'd find a TJ Rubicon Unlimited and put a CJ front clip on it and be done.

My '75 CJ5 body with a boxed frame

- fuel injected V6,
- T-18 Transmission ,
- Dana 300 with proper working twin sticks,
- power brakes, disk brakes in front,
- 21 gallon fuel tank,
- dark blue paint with just enough scratches so people know I'm serious but not abusive,
- Warn Winch in front,
- receiver hitches front/back,
- OBA,
- NO radio,
- 33" tires riding high in the body similar to Busa's jeep,
- No noticeable lift,
- low back seats,
- Like mine will be with E-locker in back with TrueTrac in front,
- a split windshield with hinges that open up.
- A solid no wiggle tire carrier on the rear bumper w/ extra fuel and water

I'd get my 1977, FJ40 Land Cruiser back-:D
LG

All good suggestions. But in sticking with the theme only factory appointed add ons.

I like that idea. Id still swap in the old T-18 along with a Dana 300 though.

You said Jeep...you didn't specify model...so here I go :D

First off, drivetrain wise, Im not going past 1986. Even though the 4.0 is hands down one of the best motors Jeep (Chrysler) ever put in, I like the one thing Jeep used to stand for....simplicity.

That said, I would start with a YJ frame and tub. CJ front end and tailgate mod.

Next I would dig around the 70's FSJ's for a nice 401 and a set of axles from same. A 60/44 or even a FSJ 20/44.

T-18 from a mid-70's CJ and a Dana 300 from a mid-80's CJ. Hydro clutch and power steering from mid-80's CJ

And there you have it. Simple, Stock, and ready to rock.

are the axels really any better out of the full sized jeeps?

If there aren't any limitations to the stock Jeep parts, it's hands down simple. JK Rubicon with the 6.1 L hemi.

75 CJ6 body/frame
79 J20 front 44 cut down
73 J4700 rear 60 (semi float 35 spline) cut down
75 J-20 401
79 CJ T-18
86 CJ 300

Come'on Jim, the Jeep IS the model. It's a Jeep-CJ message board. I believe the op's intent was for stock parts of any "Jeep" version during it's 45 year run.

I guess I'd say a Dana 44 rear from the last year so it's a widetrack. I guess I'd have to stick with a Dana 30 front widetrack since it's probably the strongest front ever offered in the Jeep model, right?
I'd go with the Dana 300 Transfer Case and a T-19 tranny.
The powerplant would be the AMC 304 . Plenty big for a vehicle this size.
And I guess the frame and body from an 86 since it's a widetrack and because they theoretically would have the least rust.:D

I'm sure you meant to say T-18

No, the T-19 has a syncronized 1st gear and is also available 5:1 ratio which isn't quite as low as the 6.32:1 of the T-18 . I mean the Dana 300 is what 2.6:1 and people upgrade to the Atlas or Terra low to get 4:1. I figured 6.32:1 would be too low for multi-use.

In your post you chose all CJ parts except for the T-19.

Good point. I'm thinking the T-18 and then thought about it's variant (the 19) and how it might be a hair better and didn't even think about it not ever being an offering. So let me revise that to the T-18 .:D

No no, you are spot on with your original choice! A 5-1 T19 has a very usable 1st gear on the street and it crawls nicely in low range with a 4-1 Dana 300 . :chug:

I agree hole. Except the T-19 was never offered in a Jeep CJ, and that was the intent of the thread. Otherwise, you betcha!
