Have a question on my 1980 CJ7 ,It has a chevy 355/GM Turbo 400 (shift kit and 2100 stall convertor) adapted to what i was told a Dana 300 . Looks more like a Dana 20 to me. Anyway i was wondering what driveshafts/ u joints you guys recommend for holding the power an torque. It currently looks to have the stock shafts with what was said to be new u joints in both. Pretty much plan on using the jeep for a street and dune cruiser,no rock crawling or mud running. Just a two tracker and a dune cruiser. Thanks in advance!

If you buy Dana/Spicer U-joints, you won't have much to worry about.

Engine was upgraded from about 60 RWHP to what 250+?? See where this is going? Might need more beef. Depends on how its driven really. Driving style here, are you pushing it past its capabilities? Probably have some broken parts soon. If you respect the vehicle and road conditions, will last a long time.

This deserves a separate paragraph. Don't get all caught up in "thinking you have to have" a 1 ton driveline in a lightweight Jeep. Don't know how many purpose built trail rigs I have driven around, broken down on the trails. Remember our roots? Those old WW II Jeeps? Those were driven in the ocean, severely overloaded, driven across numerous countries, driven like they were rented, been stuck in all sorts of conditions jerked out by 5 ton trucks. Those little guys kept trucking right along. All WITHOUT their Dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear diffs...

Mainly on the street it’s going to be a cruiser nothing too abusive, but on the dunes I’ll be climbing hills at part or wide open throttle depending. Have to replace the oil seal in the rear end found it was leaking an soaking my brake shoes today. Probably end up replacing the front drive shaft with another stock/used one as the current one has a bend in it. Time will tell just thought I’d get some insight
