1971 dodge dart built 318
My dipstick tube is not secured in the block, when I check levels I pull the whole thing out. I have a replacement, but am curious about something. Would this be a source of a minor oil leak? I cannot tell because the block is crusted with every fluid known to man. I simply cannot trace it. Also, I was thinking about pressure washing the undercarriage, would there be any problem with me doing the block as well? Thanks!!!!!!
 
Pressure washing is a good idea. Just stay away from your wiring and distributer. It probably is leaking oil from the dipstick tube. Should be a press fit. I like to use Mopar Gasket Maker p/n 4318083 for a good seal.
 
Thanks! Any suggestions on getting the dipstick tube in? Was thinking of grabbing it with a pliers and hitting the pliers to seat it.
 
Yah I had a tough time with mine. You need a "C" shaped tool to fit on top of the crimp so you don't crush the tube.

Use a boxed end wrench that just fits tube down to crimp and hit the wrench.
