I'm sure this has been answered a thousand times but I've searched until my empty head is spinning.

I want a fatter tire on my 80 CJ5 . But I don't have the bucks to invest in lifting it at the moment. And I don't want the headaches of having to change a bunch of stuff out. I just want something that will bolt on and wont rub with stock suspension.

I'm currently running 31x10.50 15's But the tires are 11 years old. So they have to go. And I'm not crazy about the rims either. So any suggestions would be appreciated.

A 33 inch tire "can" fit with no lift but it will be tight. BFG did make a wide 31 inch tire at some point but I do not know if they still do. You could go with a 15x10 rim and put the same 31x10.50 tire on it. The wider rim will give you wider appearance and will look pretty good.

I thought about the wider 15x10 rims but I worry that the tires will look like a fat bottomed girl.Skinny on top and big at the bottom.

I have run 33's on 15x8 wheels for decades, with no issues.;)

Running 32's on 15x7 stock white spokes, no issues as well.

A 10 inch wide rim is still 1/2 skinnier than the tire width so it will not look like the ridiculous lifter trucks with stretched tires.

This is a 12.5 tire on a 10 inch rim. I think a narrower tire would look funny.7f3d817b6812e119897dea19ec30b982.jpg

You are 1/2" narrower than the section width, which is 1/4" on each side. The sidewall ends up looking flat instead of a normal bulge. And you are wider than the tread width, so the sidewalls are noticeably wider than the tread. It looks funny IMO, and doesn't perform as well.

It does (IMO).

The OP was looking for options, thats all I was trying to do. I have seen this combo and it is doable for what he was asking.
