I hope others who are more knowledgeable chime in here.
I was under the impression the cj's never had sway bars. This was one of the new features introduce by Chrysler in the YJ.
No, CJs did come with them as an option. It stared late 70s. I am just wondering since mine didn't come with one could the components just bolt straight in or is my frame missing a welded plate or welded nut inside the frame.... something like that.

Factory setup?
Sure if you have everything it should bolt up to your '76.
Your spring plates should have studs for the anti-sway bar connecting rods. The frame should have mounting brackets.

Thanks for the replies. Seller hasn't removed the factory sway bar from the 5 and states it is all intact so I plan to take it off myself (Jeep he is parting out) to ensure I get all parts including the spring plates if they are in good condition.
was able to get all the parts including the u-bolt plates with both studs. The interesting thing is that the set-up doesn't look like the one in the pic above. the bracket that holds the sway bar to the frame looks different. Hopefully I will test fit this weekend to see what's what.
