I got my jeep out for the first time yesterday, it ran very well until I killed it trying to get over a small rock. This was an hour into trail riding, maybe 2 hours. When I tried to start it again it fought, and then it fought when I tried to give it gas. I noticed my fuel filter was at best half full, compared to usually it only has a tiny amount of air in the top of it (clear filter so you can see inside it). I had to use the choke the rest of the day to be able to drive it, obviously was running lean.

I've got a fuel cell in the back and just a stock vacuum fuel pump on the motor. I think there is just one vacuum line going to it, is there supposed to be two? Someone have a diagram for it? I am thinking about adding an electric pump at the tank, if I do this should I leave the stock pump on at the motor too or should I pull that off? Thoughts on this?

I'm not familiar with your engine but does it allow a mechanical pump?

If you're going electric Id ditch the stock one.

My engine builder recommended an edelbrock fuel pump due to it's reliability over the holley blue/red etc. They are a little expensive but Id rather do that than be going through pumps all the time. May just be install error that causes the failures.

this is the one I got. No regulator needed and supports 600hp.

It is a mechanical fuel pump and also a vacum motor/pump for the wipers if like mine. Could be time for a new one.

thanks for the insight.

Tonight I started messing with it. I started by moving my brake booster to the correct spot, off the carb. Then I started it to check the booster and it was working sooo much better. For the 10 seconds it was on it was still icky running. Then I cleaned the carb. It was super clean, but, at the end when I put it back on it ran great again. Not sure where something was causing an issue in there. I'm still planning on adding my electric pump, when I find it. I looked today with no luck :(
