Ford 302

I've got a friend that would like to put a 302 in his 86 CJ7 . Since the AMC 232 i6 /AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l was originally a ford engine and I know from experience that a 302 will bolt up to the old Ford 6 cylinder bell housing. Will the 302 bolt up to a Jeep AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l bell housing? I know someone here has a 302 in their rig but failing memory and search ability, I can't remember who it is. Did he use the 302 bell housing or the Jeep bell housing?

I did a search and didn't come up with anything either. I have had pretty good luck with searches with the new software, a lot better than the old system

I'm putting a late 60's 302 in my 86 CJ. Would like to know about any wiring harness issues, will my power Jeep steering pump work with a 302? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Some good info there. It says to use the ford bell housing, so I'm presuming the jeep bell housing won't work.

Well I didn't know for sure what Transmission ... Regardless he'll be closer than going GM it seems.
