Found a Time Bomb in my 1981 CJ8

Very interesting. I never knew this. This could be the problem with a lot of the fuel system problems that people have been having. I have a couple of old rusted out CJ7 tanks out back under the snow that I'll cut apart as soon as I can get to them just to see if they all have this.
Nice find. Thanks for the video.

Sure looks Factory by those hose clamps and clips.

My tank only made it to 7 years but the 73 CJ5 didn't have the hose only the 90 deg fitting on the outside.

Interesting video.

n the rubber and other crud the tank looks pretty good. Now is your opportunity to get a bigger tank .... put in a metal breather tube, add some metal and have her welded up and you have a nice clean, higher capacity tank. I'd have it lined with that stuff used in new motorcycle tanks. Unfortunately you cut above the seam....

Kind of unfair to blame AMC though (in the vid), that hose was made long before ethanol was put into gas and surely wasn't ethanol resistant, hence the deterioration.
