That's cool. The one I posted was a complete Jeep with everything. Nos from WW2. :dung: is still hiding in warehouses out there

I wonder if that’s some old picture. Just looks to dam good looking 80 years later coming out of a box. No rust no dust no termites chewing up the wood box. Even the plywood looks good.

I agree but I've seen things sitting in conditioned storage look amazing after a long time. I'll have to see if I can find the article/post and get more information. The one pic is definitely in some sort of garage or storage room

Hmm, but from the link they claim.
The "Jeep in a crate" become a myth and an icon after the war. To date; an original jeep in a crate has never been recovered. Many people believe they were offered at a low price after the war but that turned out to be a myth. You could find surplus Jeeps after the war but it's never been proven that a Jeep in a crate could actually be purchased after the war.
Makes you wonder about the truth...

I always wondered about that story. And I’ve seen plenty pictures of Jeeps shipped during the war and none were in a box. Waste of plywood.

It was always my assumption it was like this. Then stacked 3 high on a ship. Hence the reason for no roll cage flat fenders and folding windshield d0f93cb5c18f08e384a3351b99f1ec06.webp

Or this. All worn out and tossed out. If there was a nice new one in a box somewhere why drive around in an old beater, drive around in the new one unless you are saving it for the 80th anniversary of the end of the war. 45C0DAD8-78CF-462F-A272-04D5256EA7C7.webp

Bet you there's a ton hiding in old barns and buildings over seas

99.999% probability that the OP is the MD Juan version and new manufacture as posted by Jeepsterman. The markings on the crate even match. Probably not a terrible price for the sheet metal, frame, springs, and the rest of the stuff included in the kit but no axles, engine, Transmission , Transfer Case , or driveshafts are included. Still likely to be a $25-30K repop before you get it on the road. And you are very unlikely to get that much selling it.

Would have been nice for the m38 I had

I remember seeing that ad in the classified section of the newspaper when I was in high school. Never quite had the money; I think it was like $1599 if memory serves.
