1978 CJ 5 304 3 Speed Fiberglass Tub and fenders
Well, now that I'm pretty deep into my latest project, I'm thinking the frame is just not worth fixing. Originally, I thought it was inside around where the tank goes, but it's everywhere...It has a fiberglass tub and fenders, and I'm planning on going through the AMC 304 , so I'm thinking about a replacement frame. I found these ones from Throttle Down Kustoms. $1800, but then you add your motor mounts, skid plates, bumper, shock mounts, etc. and you end up around $2500. Still seems ok to me, because everything would be new then. I'm just curious if anyone has ever used one of these or can recommend another brand, or any advice at all other than give up. Thanks.:notworthy:

I have no personal experance with them, but people on other sites have talked ok about them. I haven't heard anything bad yet.

shop around or maybe think of going with a YJ frame. I know a few people who have done it.

The Throttle Down frames are good units, alot better spring mounts, you can buy them with the shackle reversal already on the front, they also come with alot heavier steel on the rear of the frame for the bumpers. They do not come with any holes in the sides of the tubes the whole length of the frame, you have to drill your own for wiring, brakes, fuel, etc.. Some brackets may need to be modified slightly, nothing major. Definately a major upgrade over the factory unit.
