hey boys and girls, need your help. i have a frame that has gone bad from just before the hump for the rear axle on back. as in there is probably more air at this point than frame. lol not quite that bad but close.
i have a CJ7 frame that was hit in the front available to me. would i be able to just cut off the rear, and graft it into my frame?
if not i plan to get steel stock and remake the back end. i would assume to do it right i would need to weld in a 2X4 tube "bridge" on the inside to add extra strength. and instead of butt joints i would use and off set. more zig zag end. don't know the technical term sorry. to add more strengths to the weld joint, and make it less likely for a stress fracture to re-occur.
if i'm way out of whack on any of this, or any recommendations for something im missing let me know. i've been welding thick steel bumpers and tubing for a while now. so i'm pretty confident that i can do this. just double checking my ideas before i jump off the deep end.
if any one has a link to a write up or video on how to do this let me know the seach bar got me nothing.
