I really need two things before I wheel - I need a spare tire carrier complete with gas cans - and I need seats - the original are a bit worn out...
I confess I thought about just getting one of these because the rear lights end up in the way of a swing out carrier

Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier Curt Trailer Cargo Control c31006

I want Mastercraft Seats - we will see what I can afford...

Glad to hear the ford shock towers worked out for ya. Can't beat the price.:chug:

:)There are several good swing away tire carriers that take one or two cans. Just make sure the carrier will take whatever OD sized tire you have and still fit the cans in between.........for the larger tires most will have the can mounted long ways. Also for off road the tire needs to be mounted fairly high so it does not impede your angle to get started up a hill. ( I've ripped a few off")
On your seats check with "Old Dog" he is a big fan of the Corbeau Seats. Nice stuff but in that short Jeep may be tough to get anything in there that nice.
I took some seats out of a compact car with nice suspension and had them recovered.

did you place your towers vertical or did you keep them lined up with the OE shock mounting points?

i have my towers, but am reluctant to install them... im not sure if they should be vertical, or lined up wit OE... my thought being that the engineers had their reasons for lining things up the way they did...

i have a 76 frame and WTs from an 85 if that helps
