As the title says realy, when i turn my steering all the way either left or right the front leaf spring on my passenger side ( for you guys driving on the wrong side of the road thats the left side :D ) the leaf spring knocks slightly to the side.

Now i'm notsure if this is a problem as such, the landrover chaps don't think it is as leafs are designed to move, they recon it could just be where it has sat for years and it's now just freeing up.

I'll try and take a video at the weekend to show you, but not having any other jeeps near me to benchmark mine on we're not reraly sure why.

All the suspension bolts and joints are fine ( i've replaced a few now lol) and both front hangers are new ( the old ones snaped and had been re-welded by the PO and then snaped again. well it is a 30 year old jeep)

teh rear hangers are welded ok so no movement there. it could be that the power steering is just putting a tad too much pressure on the front end,

Anyway i'll post a vid but if anyone has any ideas that would be great.

I'm guess'n when the knuckle hits the stop there is still some travel left in your steering gear and that force is then pushing the entire axle assembly.
Just a shot in the dark though as I can't see what's going on from here.;)

Not sure but I don't think you're talking about the tire hitting the spring at full turn. I would suspect the spring bushings and/or spring bolts are worn.

If you are running big tires, that might cause some movement standing still.

Is the frame cracked? Mine was once.

Your right it's not the tyres hitting the spring, all bushings are good etc, it's a actual leaf thats moving sideways. i'll try and get a video today.

just found last night on the same side the front whell bearing knocking, so have to strip that down today to see if it's a re-pack and tighten job or if i need a new one.

"it's a jeep thing" :)

Inspect the steering box mounts. The frame horn where it bolts is not very robust.
