ok so im on to fuel system checking now.. question is do i need to install the filter with the return line ?
an in the pic is that the return line fuel line down by the incoming fuel line ?
why would the guy that owned it be fore me put in a single line fuel filter if it needs the three port fuel filter ?
it runs good the way it is BUT im putting it back together the way its supposed to be...

Yes, that is the return line. It is 1/4" and the supply line is 5/16". They run together, or beside each other, from the tank up to the engine compartment. Depending on the carb (whether swapped or not) you should have the return line connected.
 
I ran mine for years without the return line but it's best to have it. However whatever you do get rid of that fire hazard plastic filter. I don't know why people use those things

Ok Thank You going to order new pump,filter and some hoses...

ive used them for years i think because there cheap.. but dont worry its going away as soon as i get some new parts... Thank you
 
BUT im putting it back together the way its supposed to be...

Then you need to install the metal three port filter. Make sure the top (smaller) return port is positioned at 12 o'clock. The main reason is to help prevent vapor lock.
