Ok guys,On my AMC 304 Im currently running a 4bbl holly with a edelbrock performer (non egr) it will not pass ca emissions, so every 2 years I swap back to the stock 2bbl and manifold(egr too) for 1 day;). This last summer wile on rubicon, the engine cut out on the steep's both ways. So here are the options. Run the 2bbl year round;(. Elec fuel pump? TBI w/ 2bbl. TBI w/ new 4bbl preformer with egr. Not sure the best route. Is the TBI excessive? Can a elec fuel pump make up for the 1 issue I have?

I would appreciate any advice or ideas,

Thanks

Jake

I run a Howell TBI 670 cfm. They are 50 state legal and meet CARB. I'm very happy with this setup on the trail, no more stalls. I would make some calls before I purchase to verify that it will pass in your area.

A dual system with propane injection is also an option. you can run those upside down with out stalling.

I run a Howell also, I've been very happy with it both on and off-road. :chug:

Do you notice a huge gain in power while running the 4 barrel around town? (I assume so...) and want that power for around town...

Personally, I would weigh running the 4 barrel around town, and when going to elevation, switching to 2 barrel (and during smog check years...)

Try out the 2 barrel with some climbing, see how it does... My 2 barrel gives me plenty of power for off road, as half the time i am not punching it... though when i do it gets her done...

Are you close to central Cal? I go up to Prairie City for my off road testing (unfortunately have not gotten past the "testing" lately, every time I go out there come back with something new to fix :bang:)

We'll have to meet up sometime up there on the con man!

Thanks guys, :chug:
yeah, JR i like the 4bbl for every day use and thought the 2bbl swap might be nice for the alt and steeps. Ive never been to prarie city, i will let you knoaw when we plan our trips for next summer. Gonna do a run to watch the hammers in feb .... no toys...I have heard a lot about the howell system, it seems to be the best way bust costly...like everything else... maybe it will be next winter's project. im not ready for propane just yet;)

Will an elec fuel pump make any difference?

thanks
