gas gauges

Seems alot of jeeps including the one I;m looking at today have a broke gas gauge. So what seems to be the problem?

I would say half the time it's the sending unit and the other half is the gauge. Can also be wiring and a bad ground at sending unit.

Check the wiring, especially ground, first. The sending unit is the hardest to replace. I thought mine was bad. After replacing it I found the one I took out worked fine. I'm tracing the wiring now. I know there's a link on the forums here that tells how to test the gauge. If I find it I will post it here. Good luck
