have a 1982 CJ7 with a straight 6, bought it a few months ago, the ticing sound only starts when the jeep is moving. my son and i tried listening for ticing sound in park and in neutral, i also had him put it in drive, hold the brakes and hit the gas, nothing. it only happens driving down the road, the tic sound get louder the faster i go. and it not a rock in the tire, i checked. hehe,

thanks to anyone that can help out.

Put it on jack stands. 4 of them so all wheels are off the ground. Put it in gear and let it run in 4x4 so all tires are turning. Check then for sound

See what it does on jack stands...

how are your ujoints? driveshaft and axle

u-joints and driveshaft is good, i'll try putting the jeep on jack stands this weekened, but the more i listen to the ticking, i think i might have a manifold leak. i notice the the noise only happens while driving and on the gas pedal, if i let off the gas the ticking stops.

Ring and pinon, with torpue and without
