Today I headed to the trails near Ouray.
I went on the same trails we will be going on during the 4th day of the Last Annuall Jeep-CJ Trail Ride.
From Ouray I headed south on Camp Bird Road. It starts off as a 2WD gravel road. At the bridge over Canyon Creek I locked my hubs and aired down.
Here an avalanche from last winter is now a snow bridge over the creek.
The canyon walls became very steep.
At one point the cliff was too steep to make a road with the usual methods so cut a notch in the cliff.
First I headed into Yankee Boy Basin but I didn't make it all the way to the end. Snow stopped me.
Here's the view looking back
This is a beautiful place with very steep rock mountains.
Next I headed to Governor Basin but snow stopped me there too.
These trails will be completely open by the time we have our Jeep-CJ Trail ride. I hope everyone is coming. Check out this link: http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f100/announcing-last-colorado-jeep-cj-trail-ride-21135/
