I have a 1966 CJ5A with the F head 134 (Hurricane). It has 7000 original miles on it with no mods to the drivetrain, all original and in beautiful shape. I am concerned about driving it too much, should i be worried about valve seat recession and plan on installing hardened valve seats? or is there a fuel additive that i can run that provides the valve lubrication it needs? Thanks in advance!:chug:

I may be wrong
and hope someone in the know speaks up
but I have read a few times that back when leaded was dropped, yes there was a problem, but with today's formulas no there is not , with that in mind I just run regular.

I have had a lot of heads reworked in the last 10years or so and my machinist did not reccomend running hardened seats and he is a person i trust i consider him the best in town :chug:

just because inquiring minds need to know, who is your machinist??

Just shows the different opions of machinists. Mine definitely says to change the seats. When the lead was taken out of the gas the valves no longer had the lubrcant that was needed. But there are a heck of a lot of cars running around that have not changed them. Who knows.

I believe I'll just start running an additive. :) Thanks for the replies fellow jeepers!:chug:
