Head Freeze Plug Leak V8

HEY GUYS, what about this.

Expansion plug:

That would drive me crazy and I would end up pulling the head to replace the plug :(
I dont normally advocate this...but you might try some radiator stopleak. Only other thing to do would be to replace the plug.
Haven't seen those expansion plugs before...

X2-Pull it. If thats leaking its probably time to look at anyway or it won't be long before you are forced to and may have more issues.

Yep, letting it get real hot (just had the exhaust done and it had been sitting for years) and then I'm gonna look closer at it tomorrow. The hole in the fire wall looks promising.

Update:

Just shut it off after idling for 45min or more.

195* T-Stat.

Idling temp 200*

Shut down temp increased to 220* and that was the max, now falling.

Freeze plug is barley damp and I am letting it sit under pressure and no results of anything major.

I'm gonna see what happens tomorrow after it sits over night.

When I freshened up the 360 in my CJ5 I replaced all of mine. Im not real keen on the idea of putting a hole in the firewall. When I did mine I was told just pop them out with a screwdriver.

First one I hit went inside the block. It took days and more patience than you could imagine to get it back out. Figures the leaker would have to be on the back side of the head. In the end I think pulling the head may end up saving you some frustration.

Stinks that something like this bites you in the arse after getting her up and running after all that time. On the positive it does sound pretty good. :chug:

Ya I know, right. I had so much trouble sealing the intake bolt (draining, refilling) then got everything right, now this.

Oh well, I'll check it tomorrow and go from there.

I did remember I installed a block heater (used RTV as well) and it is basically the same plug principal. Just thinking out loud.

We will see :(

Pete, I did notice a lot of smoke from the right bank (duel exhaust/no crossover) and said to my self, self, ut-oh, might as well pull the motor. But then I started thinking, NEW EXHAUST pipe/oil on pipe. I let it idle and finally it all burnt off and the sound got a little quieter.
