Hello, I have a 1973 CJ5 and was wanting to upgrade the heater. Ive heard that a blower from a 73 Chevy blazer works well on a later model Jeep 78 and newer. But not mine since its located under the dash? Can anyone shed any light on the subject or offer any advice?

It won't work... I am going through the same thing now.
Basically my 76 and your 73 are in the same boat, the blower motor sticks INTO the cab, not OUT into the engine bay.

There is an article floating around about getting one professional wound, but in reality, my was so old it barely turned. I was replacing the heater core, so I tested the motor... it was shot.

I ordered up a new replacement one from 4wd.com and when you apply juice to it with a new heater switch with the correct gauge wire, it blows just fine. It is pretty much all or nothing though, there really isn't a LOW anymore, just HIGH and HIGHER, but I am not complaining, the heater hasn't worked in years and now the heater core doesn't leak onto peoples legs.
