Frame up restore 1984 CJ7 , work in progress.

The Before :

Well that was the starting point before when it was drivable, now not so much.

This was the first stage of the rebuild, the teardown

The next step was to strip the frame to the bare metal and coat it with POR 15, I used a sand blaster and grinder.

Next step was replace all the rubber bushings, leaf springs, and shocks. Coat the differentials with POR 15 and check the fuel tank when I found this :( and it was driving ?? Wow, didn't even bother to clean it just replaced with a new poly tank and sending unit.

Next was all new brake pads and shoes, drums and rotors, bearings and races, U Joints, and locking hubs. Went with all new steel armored brake lines from Classic Tube, and longer steel braided brake lines to accommodate for the lift. Got some new rims form Quadratec and a scored a set of takeoffs from work. Don't mind the rust on the rotors its been sitting for a while :)

Wow I thought that was a usable tub in the 1st pics but I guess not. :) It didnt look too bad in the pics from a North Eastern point of view. :D

It had some rust and rot in what I felt were critical points in the tub, right by both of the roll bar mounts and seat belt mounts. If I had to do it all over again I would have kept the tub and fixed it. I just thought it would be much easier to replace it but it was a major pain to find one and I still have to do some repairs to the one I found.
