Can anyone tell me or give me any information on how to distinguish a YJ from a CJ hood or if it is a CJ but if it is an aftermarket hood. I have somebody who is willing to sell me a hood but he does not know any information on the history of it and is unsure if it is a YJ or CJ. I just wanted to try to make sure before I drive an hour away that I'm not going for the wrong itemhttp://http://lakeland.craigslist.org/bar/3580956275.html

Looks like a Cj hood to me. Note the narrow impression , Yj is a little more square as well.

Thank you sir. Your expertise is greatly appreciated. Any idea how to distinguish an aftermarket from oe? I stopped by a shop in Daytona that specializes in jeep Cj rebuilds to see if they had a hood to sell and the guy told me that they only use oe b/c the after markets are flimsy. Without having two next to each other I was wondering if there was another way to tell oe vs am .

If its rusty.. its OE.. hard to find an original with 0 rust on it. Ive only dealt with a aftermarket omix ada hood and they seem to be pretty solid.. Shoot me a pm if your looking for a steel hood. I will be trading a fiberglass for a good shape original in a few weeks that I wouldnt mind letting go of. Be care full of places that "specialize" in resto work on jeeps.. they normally have giant price tags. I paid $AMC 150 for a new aftermarket hood and blank dash still in their boxes recently..

good luck
