Hey there folks I have been searching for an Ignition Switch Actuator Rod to the point of pulling whats left of my hair out :mad:.

I have heard about the fact that Jeep used GM truck steering columns and have already found and bought the Ign. sw. rack kit but I cant find the rod anywhere.

Anybody have a lead, info or part number (GM or Jeep) for me?

I have a 78 CJ7 , auto, tilt, column shift, v8 AMC 304 , Golden Eagle

Thanks Folx

did you look at a Cherokee/XJ at a pick your part ??
If you can't find one anyplace else I am pretty sure that mylittlecj has one from a 77 that may work and he is kinda into trading parts.

Nah I hadn't thought of that but are ya talking about someone on here when you say "mylittlecj"?

its not the rod to worry about ....you can bend or manipulate
its the gear or connector
i go to this site to see what i need to look for at the junk yard

Man I ran across that exact site/part and wondered if it would work. Waddaya think? If it showed an GM or AC Delco part number t'would be easier to make a good assumption......

mylittlecj5 can point you in a good direction try him first before a possible costly assumption

can you post a pic of the column?

Hmph??What? huh?? Did someone call my name? I wuz sleeping in the corner over here....:) Thanks, cerrajero for waking me up! lol

I have a column here ( I guess its for a '77, since IO sayz so... and he would know) but I can't see what it is you need exactly (that link above isn't working for me?). Is it the actual rod or the gear or what? I took the column apart just now so if the PO will let me know exactly what he needs I think I can help.

Hey bud it's the rod that runs from the rack (gear) to the actual starter switch......
