I just bought 4- 2 inch lift shackles (2 front-2 rear) for my 77 CJ7 . They are at least an inch wider than my stock shackles. Is this normal>Will this difference be made up with the aftermarket bushings or have I been sent the wrong shackles? I bought on EBAY and they are a nice looking product at a nice price. Shackles are 1 piece welded and inspected and powder coated. At some point I will buy entire lift kit, but for now this will have to do as far as lift is concerned.

I have seen people use their shackle bolts to pull them in when they are wide like that -- I wouldn't do that. Some will likely tell you that extended shackles are a bad idea anyway. I can go either way on that statement. I've used them on both Jeeps I've owned, never really had an issue. I'm still running the ones on the back of my CJ that were there when I bought it.

Anyway (sorry about the ramble), I think you should be able to take up the space with your new bushings. Not terribly sure, though.

Just had a thought -- are they too wide just for the front? Your rear springs should be wider.

Thanks Scooter....That's what I love about forums, a pool of knowledge...I'm bogged down changing out a gas tank, so I just grabbed the first shackle out of the box and checked it against the front.....after your post, I went and checked the box and they are two different sizes. You are correct. I was checking a new rear shackle against the stock front one. I have all the correct sizes. I'm good to go now. Thanks again..:bang:

Kinda hard to say, the polly bushings will be wider than the stock rubber ones though.

Your front springs and shackles are 2" wide.. Your rears are 2.5" wide. If go 4 shackles that are all 2.5" wide then your fronts won't fit. You need 2" wide ones.

Glad it's working out for you. :chug:
