. Id still be cleaning up the area as much as I could to make sure where its coming from. That said if your getting oil on your clutch thats probably where its coming from. The only other place I can think of that would leak downward would be from the oil sending unit itself. It should be on the passenger side of the engine block and have a wire going to it. It may leak from where its threaded into the block.I just changed the sending unit for oil pressure so will check that. Also just changed oil but not leaking from oil filter or oil plug. Did not leak a drop when first brought it home. Just started all of sudden but did jerk in reverse so that hasnt changed. I changed form regular castrol to Castrol GTX 10W-30 High Mileage Motor Oil. Not sure if that could have started it.
Wow, picked up my 1972 a few months ago. Same exact thing, thick old black oil, had a drop of oil every day or two. Changed oil and all of a sudden the leak tripled in volume.
I dont know what grade of oil was used prior but the oil I used was Mobil Super High Mileage 10W-40 not a synthetic
. Not sure why I changed except the snake oil ad of high mileage oil. Antifreeze is green. All come back to not having glasses on.We use essential cookies to make this site work, and optional cookies to enhance your experience.
