help with vacuum lines and ecs on 81 cj5

Hey guys, I'm new to thus forum. I just started my rebuild of my 1981 CJ5 .I began tear her down last night. I was in the engine bay and pulled the vacuum lines out. My question is, do I need to put them back in like they were or can I slap a new breather and simplify all that. I know I need to hook up the vacuum advance to the distributor. I just don't see any need for all the mess on an older Jeep. I also would like to get rid of all the smog system (ECS). the evaporator canister and lines. But how do you plug the lines that go to the fuel tank. Please help.

If you look in the DOC section of the forum the original vacumn line diagram is there also.It might help you with your elimination process.Welcome to the forum
