I have a newly acquired 1980 Jeep CJ7 and love it! I need some help with wheel backspacing.

Currently it has 33x12.5x8 tires on stock steel wheels. I'm buying new tires (same size) and new wheels. I want to widen the stance and have the wheels extend a bit more from the wheel wells.

My question is, what back spacking should I get on the new wheels? Pictures would be great also!

Thanks in advance!

a 10" wheel with 3 3/4"(what most of them are) backspace should get you there.

The standard Jeep wheel is 8" wide with 3.75" backspace. So a 10" wheel with the same backspace will put those extra 2" inches to the outside.
I have concidered this but want to keep 8" wheels so I found a 2" backspace wheel that does about the same result.

Pictures would be great also!

Thanks in advance!
