Hey everyone Im now a 2 jeep owner. Ive got a 2006 jeep wrangler and have recently purchased a 67 jeep CJ5 .
bought the jeep and was told it was a little hard to start at times. well come to find out its hard to start everytime. will jump start but wont start off the battery alone and even then it is hard to crank. acts like the timing is off has new plugs wires rotor and cap plugs coil but seems like that when its trying to start that its slugish and like when it starts turning over it pauses like its firing at the wrong time or the starter is weak. does anyone know what the timing should be set on. or does anyone have any sugestions as to what this problem might be. but once it is running it seems to run fine. Any help you can give me is much appreciated.

It may help to know what engine you have. please fill out the profile with the information on it.
AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l l6 is 8deg BTDC
I would be looking at the starter, pull it and have it checked out.

Does a 67 have the oddfire Buick 225? Is it a V-6 or a straight 6?

Its. V6 but as far as what engine it is I'm not sure

Im thinkin its the odd fire then. A quick pic would settle this pretty easy for ya.

Thanks for everyones help changed the starter out and got a new battery played with the distributer a little now she fires up and purs like a kitten. Now all i have to do is figure out why theres so much play in the front spindle any one know where i can find a dissasymbly break down of the front spindle so i dont tear up something taking it apart

welcome glad you got it running.You got a good engine.Don't let anyone talk you out of it.Unless of course its me.
