I have only owned my current CJ for about 4 months. My dad owned it for about 2-3 years. No interesting nostalgia for mine, but let's hear yours!
 
Mine has been in the family about 2 or 2.5 years. But I have owned quite a few Jeeps since high school (just after the dinosaurs started in the oil business!)
 
I've owned my ol' girl since 1978. Never could bear to part with her. She has been apart more then together but when she runs, I have really worked her hard. She's getting a well deserved face lift!
 
I've had mine for 3 months now but Dads had it since 89
 
we have had ours for 8 or 9 months. ill let mrsdalefan88 tell the story. she can type way faster than me.:D
 
I am coming up on 5 years since I bought my current CJ. Time sure does fly by.
 
Ours started out as my grandparents. All nthe grand kids learned to drive in that thing. They had ten acres of land and we would all pile in and take turns driving it all over their yard.
When I got my license for real it was always mine during the summers.
Then everyone grew up and moved on and the jeep sat in the tree field for several many years.
One day my brother dug it out and decided he was going to fix it back up.
He got stuck on the brakes and gave up.
It sat in the barn for a few more years till my husband found it and decided it would be a fun project. We started on it last spring and it took dang near all summer long for us to figure out the dang brakes, but we are very stubborn people and didn't give up untill we got it.
It has been parked at our house ever since that day we finally got it to stop. We keep doing little projects and updates to it as we can.
 
Had mine since 1994.
 
I've had my 1983 2 days.

Sounds like you have just entered into the CJ world... It is an experience you will hopefully enjoy!
 
cdlongjr, I used to own a '83 CJ7 also. Had the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and whatever the light duty 5 speed was. Put 33x12.50 BFGs on it and drove it all over the NV desert. Sure was nice going topless in the desert with the A/C blowing in your face.
My wife and her sister got sunburned cruising around one day in it. After that we got a bikini top :laugh:
 
Wow! We have a new record... For a Toyota... :) That still is a damn long time though... :)

Glad to have you stop in and say hello... The first :beer: is on me! Interesting user name ya have there... I'm guessing that your not a big fan of fiberglass huh? :laugh:
 
Lets see now.....Bought her in 1991. Performed a frame up restoration. Drove the ever living dog s**t out of her. Sold her to my dad who turned her into a cactus munching brush queen at the deer lease. He sold her to my uncle to be brought back to life with cannibalized parts. Then I just had to buy her back....I really dont know why I did it. It just seemed like the right thing to do. But now that I own her again, she quickly hit the pocket book and is sucking me dry....just like the good ole days.:D
