Most cars that I've painted if I buy 3 quarts I'm a little short. If I buy a gallon I have a quart left, and yes it's before thinning I do that at the gun. Go figure. Now I always buy a gallon unless I'm painting something with alot of sheet metal like a van, than an extra quart or two.

Same song, almost same verse. I bought a gallon of each when I painted my jeep and ended up with about a quart or so left of each after reducing. Go with a gallon -- especially if it is your first paint job and you have to re-paint anything.
