I am getting ready to paint my CJ7 and I am wondering how much paint and primer to get.
I am going to be painting the outer fenders (not underneath) windshield frame, hood, grill, outside of tub and hard doors. The tub is fiberglass and the rest is steel.
Most cars that I've painted if I buy 3 quarts I'm a little short. If I buy a gallon I have a quart left, and yes it's before thinning I do that at the gun. Go figure. Now I always buy a gallon unless I'm painting something with alot of sheet metal like a van, than an extra quart or two.
Same song, almost same verse. I bought a gallon of each when I painted my jeep and ended up with about a quart or so left of each after reducing. Go with a gallon -- especially if it is your first paint job and you have to re-paint anything. I've seen me do it.
