How to find out the value of a Project CJ7?

I have a 77 that I am debating about dumping off or hanging on to. I have owned it for 20 years and it has sat for 15. It would be quite some time before I can tear into it. The prices of these things are all over the place. If it wouldn't be worth squat, I may consider holding on to it. But I would prefer it went to someone that was looking for a project. It there any sites that have a real estimate about there worth? I don't want to put it for sale here as I do not have enough posts to abide by the Classified rules.

I would say its worth as much as someone is welling to pay for it lol. I would say $1000 to $1500 if it has a good Transmission and the motor is there.

Thanks for the reply. It is all there, I actually drove it here and backed it into the garage 11 years ago. Right now it won't start and the rear drums look to have enough rust on them to keep the rear wheels from turning. But it is complete with soft and hard tops, but it has seen a couple IL winters so it's got a fair amount of rust on it. The only thing I ever did to it was put a 4 speed/Dana 300 in it when the 3 speed died.

Thanks for the advice, it was more than I thought it would be worth.

after the discription I would put it at 1200 if you had current paperwork
with out a running motor and a frozen axle, well that is just a body and you say that is rusted. I say the only thing worth money is the paperwork if it is current, if it has been not registered for more than 5 years, I would give you maybe 500 for it.

Thanks. An honest answer is what I was after. $500-750 is what I was thinking, so I was in the ball park. I wish I had the time to do something to it, but after 10 years in the garage, I don't see it happening. I think I paid more than that for the Soft top, so it's a far price.

I need the space in the garage. I didn't want to store it outside. The tub isn't terrible, but it would take time to cut and weld that I don't have. I appreciate all the advice, it gave me a better idea of what to ask for it.

I could take some. Parting stuff always seems to bring alot more money, it's all the leftovers at the end that noone wants that become a problem. The hood, windshield frame and grill are the only solid parts. I am going to work on getting it started this week. I figure a running truck is easier to sell.

I haven't decided if this thing is going for sale yet, but I do need to find it a new place to hibernate. The starting issue seems to be wiring related. It looked to be a good time to yank the plugs and get some lube on the top of the pistons. Hopefully I can get it to turn over by hand, the last thing I want if I do get it to turn over with the starter is to break a frozen ring.

I wouls say post pics.. 500-700 whole or probably double that if you part it. What 4 speed did you put in it? If I was closer I would be there tonight with the trailer and cash. If the body panels are rusted Id stay closer to 500 but id the sheet metal is good you probably have close to a grand in body parts alone not to mention the Dana 300 that will go from AMC 150 -250. But that is only if you have the time, space, and will to part it out.

Thanks for the offer. I have been looking for new tubs. I was hoping to get a new toy, but maybe dragging this out from the depths of the garage can light a fire under my *** to get it back in shape.

Well, this thread has helped to reconsider holding on to the Jeep. The locked up rear end was only a frozen parking brake and the motor not turning over was a bad starter. Now it looks like the body will be the first part that gets attention as I would be pulling the tub off to work on the rest. Now to locate a YJ tub.
