What can I do to fix this? Broken piece of metal that wraps around leaf spring. The other side and the rivet are intact. Big hose clamp? lol

Most spring shops will install a new band or sell you one right in the parking lot for just a few bucks.

Some have a "rivet" thru the bottom leaf, that would be the hard part. Oxy and Act heat to bend it around. I have seen some that are like a horseshoe that go over the leaf assembly and has a bolt the goes thru the clamp on top of the leaf assembly. The best way is like said above at a spring shop and have it done right. That way the leafs will not start to fan out and start creaking.

With that kind of spring clamp all the rivet does is to keep it in place ( from sliding fore and aft). The clamp is hooked over on the top.

If you can't find a good spring shop, get some flat bar steel and duplicate. It will easily slide on the spring from the end after it is bent. Stick the rivet in and tack it with a welder.

Just get a piece of nylon rope, wrap it twice and tie it real tight!:D

They say applying and heat to the springs will alter it's temper and put a weak spot in it that could crack. Sounds logical but I don't know that a quick tack would harm it, but then again a quick tack probably wouldn't hold.
I'd take a piece 1/8" strap and bend it to a "C" shape, drill the sides and slide a bolt thru with a lock washer and nut. Tighten it till it's clamped good and be done with it.

The tack, a hard tack, is to the 3/16" clamp, not the spring itself. Minimal heat would go to the spring.

Yes over 600 deg could alter the heat treatment, but that's not what were talking about.

Not all the spring leafs are drilled though, only the bottom one. A bolt won't work. It is only a pin to keep it in location. Doesn't need to hold anything. Kinda like a round keyway of sorts.

I didn't mean to put a bolt thru the springs, I meant thru the C strap, like some spring manf. do. Tightening then clamps it to the sides and keeps them aligned, which is really their only purpose.
