Forgive me if this has already been covered, but I've got an 82 CJ7 with a 360 V8 that I want to convert to EFI in the future. The Howell kits come complete which is a bonus to me (no digging around to find pieces and parts) but I can't help to think the aftermarket offerings would more easily support future upgrades should I ever decide to change things a little. Longevity is also a concern and the fact that the Howell and Affordable kits use readily available parts is very appealing even if it means keeping things the way they are currently, which in reality is probably going to be the case.

Unfortunately the vast majority of threads and videos I see are related to the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , not the V8s. Who here has installed one on a V8? What kit did you use and are you happy with the product and after purchase support?

Thanks in advance :chug:

I think the newer offerings - Fast EFI, Sniper, Holley - are all quality and easy to use setups. A guy at a local car show just put the FiTech onto a carb'd 302 and couldn't praise it enough. 4 wire hookup, self tuned, and is smooth as can be when it runs. Also says its much snappier in responsiveness. Granted this is on a Ford 302, I can only imagine it would be the same regardless of which engine you put it on.

We put a Holley Sniper 2bbl on our 79 AMC 304 . We have taken it to Moab, and SE Colorado in the mountains. Couldn't be happier. No more vapor lock at high altitude, no more stalling when climbing steep inclines, and it starts right up even if the Jeep sits for several months without starting it.

Yeah Bass, just don't forget to turn the thing off when you tip it over. A carbed engine will stall out of course.

Thanks for the input. How much was your total cost for the kit and everything that went into installing it, if you don't mind me asking?
