I dislike body work
mylittlecj5
RIP Mike, we'll all miss you
Got a chance (between everything else going on) to strip the body tub down recently.
Its not in too bad of shape (and Ive seen a LOT worse brought back to life on the web!) So I guess its my turn to tackle this while I'm waiting on parts for the chassis and drivetrain to appear.
Plan list in random order:
1) Sandblast body
2) Replace most of the floor under the seats with 16 Ga sheet, making it flat. A small lift will clearance the Transmission . if needed.
3) French in some 2x4x3/16 tube into the body right where the tub floor and sides meet. This will be used for low profile sliders and a place to tie in a roll cage, as well as knock out the rust in these areas.
4) extend the wheel wells back a little to make the 35" Swampers fit better visually. This will be done with custom 16 Ga plate and will serve as rocker armor as well. I'll be leaving the TJ flares off this time.
5) replace the lighting with LED ( i know, its been done. But I like them! lol)
6) do the wheel well notch for future seating arrangements ( my bride is 6' tall, so needs the leg room)
Ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
