The lower bell type connection is seperated and i cant seem to tigure out how to get it back together
it looks like the steering shaft needs to be 1/2" longer
i know theres an adjustment but where?

yea i know but its dark and i cant really see a good place to take a picture
its prob 6 to 8 inches above the steering box and it has grease in it and a rubber boot on the steering wheel shaft

Check morris jeep parts they have parts breakdown pictures

The steering shaft telescopes. It may take a bit of BMFH to get it to move but it will move.:D

The shaft will telescope, bit there are two molded plastic pins that need to be broken or drilled out. The procedure for getting the shaft out requires loosening the steering column so it can be pulled back. The rest of the adjustment is in the bell coupler.

So what keeps the coupler together? A cheap internal snap ring. If you look at the big and of the coupler, there are two slots opposite each other that the ring snaps into.

these pics are as good as i can get with my phone
but this is the knuckle im speaking of

Does the other section have a shaft that looks like two "D's" one larger than the other that they slip inside of each other?

:)You should be able to take the bolt out on the lower portion and move the shaft up off of the spline.......once that's apart the lower section of the D shaped shaft should allow for it to come apart..........

Order your parts first and mark the locations of each shaft and there positions so that your steering wheel gets back in the right location.

so you are saying it is broken?

Just looks like the boot is worn out to me

when you turn the steering wheel do the front wheels change direction proportionally???? If so it is more than likely not "broken". I would bet lunch it needs to be cleaned out and greased. It will have 30 something years of mud and rust in it and it needs a new boot for sure. To do this you will have to get the shaft to collapse enough to get it out.

The adventure begins, welcome onto the path to enlightenment.:D

yea i hadnt had time to look at those but yea it looks like i need 5 a but what i dont understand why the 2 sides are seperated

well the parts are ordered and will be here tues or wed now all i have to do is get it apart and back together:)
