1966 CJ5 134"F" 3sp with Warn OD
I found this 66 CJ5 on Craigslist, so I now have 3 Jeeps at my house. My 74 CJ5 , my sons 83 Dj5 (he's 14 so it's mine till he's old enough to put it in his name), 66 CJ5 .
The 66 has the L head 134 with a warn OD.
When I went to look at it the guy said the engine runs but it will not pull. It was running on one cylinder the other three were gas fouled. I got it to hit on all four so I bought it for $900.
When I went to pick it up yesterday I set the ramps on the trailer got in the jeep started it up and started playing with the Transmission /transf/OD shifters and found he had the transf in neutral. I put it in gear shifted into 1st gear and drove it onto the trailer. My wife said the guys jaw dropped. He had not been able to get it to move.
It has most of the normal problems rusted floor pans, bad wire splices, only one exhaust stud left unbroken in the head, but it has the original bumpers (that have not been welded on or cut up), the springs and axles look unmolested.
Anyhow this is my new project.

My wife calls it "Gerty"

All right! Another project! :)

I have met many a uninformed CJ owner that thought their clutch was gone, their Transmission torn up or worse, only to find out they had the Transfer Case stuck in neutral! I bet the look on the PO's face was priceless!

alright! We need more CJ5s here! Be sure to check out the CJ5 club on this site, as well.

Looks like you got a better body than the CJ7 I just bought, if that makes you feel better!

i think the cj5s are starting to out number the 7s.

You're crazy. That thing is a POS, and you will die if you try to fix or drive it. I suggest that you come to your sences, and bring it to me WITHOUT DELAY, so that I can dispose of it safely for you:D! (don't forget to bring a signed title)

Sooner or later that Mr. Craigs List will be the death of us all. Nice find but add 4 more cylinders :D

Sweet find!! I can tell you Izzak was drooling:drool::drool: over it. Looking to find one for him for a project for his home school mechanic class next year. I will have to look in the real world.
