1979 Jeep CJ5 with 304 V8, T18 Transmission, Dana 20 Transfer case with TeraLow 3:1 gears, 4.88 axle gears, Detroit Locker up front and Ox Locker in back with 1 piece axle shafts, 36" SuperSwamper SX Tires, Shackle reversal, MileMarker Hydraulic winch, MSD 6A ignition.
First you need to measure your dirveshaft. Measure how long it should be with the suspension compressed and extended.
What Transmission do you have? That makes a difference.
You could try to find one at a salvage yard.
Or if you dont' mind buying new go strait to Tom Woods: Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts - Tom Woods Custom Drive Shafts Custom Driveshafts Specialist
A new Tom Woods Drive shaft with HD u-joints would cost $224 (that's what I paid)
I bought my front shaft from Tatton's Driveshafts. These are new ones of course. They were a bit cheaper than Tom Woods. Nice quality.
-IMO They make the shaft to handle travel depending on your operating length. Just measure center of lobe to center of lobe and give the builder that length.
