1979 Blue Jeep CJ7 AMC 360 V8
I am going to upgrade my tires to meaner tires and going to get a rear bumper with a spare. I really want to get beadlock wheels
Can someone tell me the ups and down on them (if any)

I believe my wheels are 15x8 (if im not mistaken). I have 35inch BFG all terrains on now with a 4 inch lift

would these rims fit nice on my jeep?

You do know thoes are not real beadlocks right?
As far as black wheels on a blue jeep, I like it. Heres mine almost the same blue as yours.
 
Just from looking at how deep your wheels are and the fact that you say you're running 35's, you probably have 15"x10" wheels.

Old Dog makes a good point, fake bead locks thumbsdown.png. And unless you plan on getting in to some really hardcore offroading, rockcrawling, desert racing, etc, you really don't need beadlocks.

I have a set of those fake beadlocks on my CJ, and they look OK. But they are a pain in the arse to clean the mud out of, due to the lip on the outside of the ring. With 35" tires, I can air down to about 12psi without ever blowing a bead. The CJs are so light they don't need to do single digit pressures.
Real beadlocks are a high maintenance item. They need the bolts checked on them at regular intervals or you risk blowing the tires out. And they are a pain to install LOL. But the benefits, for those that need them, far outweigh the troubles.
You need to figure out what you want to do with that clean CJ, and plan your build around that. Don't throw good money away on things you might not need.
 
yea i heard beadlocks are very high maitenance but i really like how they look, even tho there fake :D

The jeep has been offroaded many times by my dad but i havnt personally taken it offroading alone, in other words the car gets REALLY dirty but i take extremely good care of it because who doesnt like a clean car :eek:

Then get fake beadlocks.
As the others have said if you don't need beadlock don't get them.
On the other hand if you do need beadlocks they are great to really air down into the single digits. That is their only advantage.
 
If thats what you like, than get them. Thats the great thing about jeeps
you get to build them the way YOU want them.
 
Maybe I missed it but beadlocks are not street legal either. I'm guessing you want that look though?
 
There not? ive seen many jeeps and lifted trucks on the streets with beadlocks..maybe there the fake ones i really dont know :confused:
 
Yes, I too have seen lots of beadlock wheels on the street. Here in Colorado there are lots of hard core jeepers. Some of them have beadlocks. Almost all those guys are breaking the law. These beadlock wheels that have the ring on the outer side of the wheel are illegal.

These are DOT approved beadlock wheels. They are a much different design than most beadlocks. They are 2 piece wheels and they grip both the inner and outer bead. Actually they look more like fake beadlocks.

Those are some sweet wheels, Hmm $350 each x 5 = $1750-ouch!

Now that you have done the homework for fellow CJ.conm folks.

My junk was built from the ground up. Had no VIN numbers. So it had to be inspected by the police department. Not a word on the wheels.

After several years of running with beadlocks. Not once have I had any problem with the law.

Used grade 8 bolts with nylock nuts. After the first "seating in" I had to go and retighten the bolts. Since then they have worked fine. Don`t lose air pressure while setting and have balanced out fine.

The inner bead was "glued" in place with DAP flashing sealer from Home Depot.

As the site owner of Jeep-CJ.com. Beadlocks are illegal for street use!

Run them off road all you want. :)
 
Nothing better than a set of classic BFG AT on a classic CJ. Just saying..
