Hey All,

Well I finally made it up to the Rubicon. I didn't go all the way, still missing my front ring & pinion, so took front drive line off to still run rear Lo Gear.

Really wish I'd have gotten my Trail camera already, but still have not, so these are from 3 different camera's different people took.

We started near Airport Flat campground on Ice house Rd.

Went up a trail a ways, that's right next to our camp. It goes a ways, pretty light trail riding...

Until you get to a river crossing, still pretty easy, and fun too, first time crossing a river in a vehicle.

Here are some random pics from the venture... I don't have enough pics or the time to do a real good trail report, but wanted to share a few with you all...

I will try to post more, along with a actual trail trip report soon, when i get the rest of the pics gathered up... One thing is for sure, I love my Jeep and the places I'm getting to go / see :chug:

Looks like it was a hell of a time!:chug:

Sure was, even in 2WD only.

I didn't get stuck at all that day, took time and picked my line good. Everyone was surprised how far I got! lol (Me too , but I didn't let em know it... )

I can't wait to go all the way through to tahoe, we started in wentworth springs.

My Uncle and I would have just kept going, but we had gotten in "trouble" the day before for being gone an extra 2 HRs... we found a cool trail lol :D Not really trouble, but you know...

Anyways, Most of the group, him and I included were starving, had been on the trail since breakfast, and ran out of refreshments... So... We cut the Rubicon portion short for the trip. And just kept telling ourselves, we'll be back

Looks like a good time. Some of that trail looked pretty rough for 2WD. :chug:

If you were running 2wd, how would you guess a stocker would make it through the areas you traversed?

Old Dog: Yeah some was pretty rough, but the little jeep just kept going :D

You mean a stock CJ? Mine is pretty stock. I do have 33" tires, with a Shackle  Lift (hate that, will be fixing that soon...)...

And the orange jeep (Uncles 72) is basically stock as well. He has 31's on it.

They went nicely. There were a few areas I rubbed Tires on... But I knew that...

It's a good idea to go with someone on this trail the first few times at least... Well I guess it's a good idea always to wheel with at least 1 buddy.

:chug:

JR - meant to post a reply back when you first posted this, but have been buried in my build. Your photos brought back a lot of old memories from when I went on the Rubicon back in the 70's. I'll have to try to find my pics from back then. Back then, most of the rigs that went through were pretty much stock and the old 4 cylinder, flat fenders seemed to get through wit the least amount of trouble. I understand it's changed a lot because of the bigger tires and higher horsepower.

Thanks for the pics - Bill

Yeah there was a bunch of heavily modified rigs that passed us on the trails, and when they did we'd chat for a min... Most of them couldn't believe we just came from the trail behind us... :D

It was pretty funny... They'd look from us to our pretty much stock rigs, and back to the trail... One guy said, " Wow you guys just came from up there?"

I didn't want them to have a heart attack, so didn't mention I'd been in 2WL all day

I've been watching your build Bill... :notworthy:

JR,

We'll have to hook up and go. Im in Sac. and run a mostly stock CJ5 as well. Plan on keeping it that way too. My son and I have only been out once but we made it over/ through some stuff that surpirsed me. No sense throwing a bunch of money at it and making it no fun on the street. Right now all of us are enjoying it, even the wife likes to bump around town in it.

Sweet! Another Sacramento Member! For sure man! I want to try to get up there in October again, but may hold off until i get a few "little things" done... Like new springs (my front drivers stack has broken free and all shifted forward...) and shocks, Front Ring and Pinon need to be replaced, and couple smaller projects... Not needing it to be completely done up, but would be nice to have 2 big things handled before more long driving

But yeah would be great to get together man, as you can see from Pics, our Jeeps are usually packed up too, My Aunt and Uncle (the orange one) and their 3 Kids, Me and my Bro, Sometimes my girl and her kid and our dogs lol All in couple CJ5 's.

We like going up camping out a few days and riding while we are up there.

:chug: I'll PM you my Number man,

~ JR
