So I am putting the grill back in and I noticed that it was further to the passenger side according to the old marks.

I am thinking it should be centered on the frame, I mean why wouldn't it be but thought I would ask.

Also any tricks to getting the front to back alignment and perpendicular to the frame?

I don't have the fenders on yet either so I am trying to get the distance from the firewall correct and equal on each side.

Any helpful tips or tricks I should know about?

Install the fenders loose to the grill then start tightening all the bolts

Yeah, I will probably have to do that to get front to back. I am installing the new wiring harness now so I want to leave them off for now.

It's more the side to side that I thought was strange. It was shifted to passenger side a good 3/4".

I'll be putting mine on (not fenders though) today or tomorrow. I plan on just getting it hooked up and adjusting for the fenders later on. not much room for adjustments with the bottom bolt and the rods that run to fire wall side

So on mine the hole in the middle that bolts it to the frame is not a hole so much as a slot that is about an inch wide allowing it to slide side to side does your have that?

Then the rods from the firewall have about two inches of adjustment at the grill plus the play in the rear mounting.

Mine is a hole, so I guess no adjustment on the side of the fire wall.

As far as the 2" of threads, yes there is some adjustment. If you took the nuts off (and didn't clean the threads to the point you cant see the original location) you should be able to get REAL close on the grill end to be able to line it up.

I would mount it up and if you're not putting the fenders back on now, dont worry too terribly much until you get there. last vehicle I put fenders and a grill back on I just started at the firewall, bolted it up finger tight, then adjusted the grill to line up. The fenders dont have much room for play.

also, the grill looks nice. I almost went white, but decided flat black.

Thanks.

The jeep is white and I almost went black on the grill.

My headlight chrome was so bad I sanded it down and painted it gloss black. I like the contrast. I painted the back of the headlights gloss black too.

Looks better than mine will. But mine is being built so when I roll it, I won't care.

Sent from my probably outdated electronic device, more than likely tracked by our government.

Troy, that slot that you have described probably allows quite a bit of movement. On the later Jeeps there is just a clearance hole, but they do still move around a bit. Wrangled13, I painted my dash a flat black years ago and now it looks horrible after a grease and dirt plus being faded from oxidation.

I know thats a good possibility of happening. Its the cheapest easiest way to get it done until I decide what is going to eventually happen with the CJ
