1975 Jeep CJ-5. mostly stock 304 with a few ignition system upgrades, carb, and headers. Stock front and rear diffs, xfer case and xmsn. 6 inch lift on 35x12.50's.
Has anyone installed the OME YJ springs on an intermediate CJ5 ? I am looking at suspension options and would in the end like to clear 33" tires. So I am just trying to see If the OME springs will be enough or should I go with 4" springs. This is for a 1975 CJ5 with a AMC 304 .
Thanks for the help.

I put OME YJ rears on all four corners with a shackle reverse. I'd do it again. :D

Are you SOA or SUA and what size tires are you able to clear?

SUA with 38.5 Boggers

The springs are 2.5" lift medium spring rate. 2" body lift. Tube fenders.

Shackles are long. Does seem to hurt.

I do run sway bars on the highway. Sometimes offroad too. :D

So a set on my 75 would clear 33 inch tires no problem. That's exactly what I wanted to hear

Worst case may be a body lift. :D

2 1/2" lift for 33's is fine if you're willing to trim the rear fenders a bit in the back. No body lift required if you trim. You can hide the cut line by stretching the fender flares. 4" lift springs ride harsh and make the Jeep unstable if you have the narrow axles. The biggest issue with 4" springs is rear drive haft vibration at highway speeds. It's nearly impossible to engineer around due to the short shaft.

I have an SOA lift with 0" lift springs that nets me about 5" of lift. I switched over to a Dana 18 Transfer Case and had an offset rear axle built with a high pinion input to accommodate the passenger side rear output. This combination gets you a really flat drive shaft connection, but it's expensive.

I run 33's now with 1" body lift and 3/4" shackle lift (net) no trimming and stock high springs.

My Uncle is running 33's with just a 2" body lift

I'm installing the OME YJ kit in a few weeks, so could speak from experience after... BUT as far as ride quality, there seems to be none better. There is a full conversion kit available from rockyroad otfitters that I can say from seeing the pieces, is made very nicley.

The lift i should gain from springs is 3 to 3-1/2"
I'll loose the shackle lift (fine by me) with the new provided in kit shackles, and undecided on body lift staying or going (only an inch... nothing major)

Moral of story, yes you will be able to run 33's. Maybe even 35's if you get the same kit as me. It was not cheap though...

You will have to account for the rear driveshaft angle and length. May even need a tom wooods or similar rear shaft with double join design.

It's nice though :D:D
