So when I exclusively off-roaded my Jeep I removed the sway bar up front with my lift because I didn't find value in it for my purposes.

I am now going road only with the resto and am trying to decided if I need one.

It has a 4" Superlift and 33" BFG MT's.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Took mine off the day I bought mine in 1985.
Only you can decide if it's needed for your purpose.

I would suggest putting it back on for on road use. The way I see it the 4" lift springs will help with sway a bit, but the sway bar will make for a better handling rig. If you want there is always those quick disconnect units for the sway bar.

I've never ran a sway bar on any of my CJ's......
Until I drove my 4 link suspension 78 CJ7 on the road. :D

My CJ5 didn't have a sway bar, but I installed one with disconnect links (2.5" lift and 32" tires). I'm mostly street (right now), while I'm 'shaking out' the resto-mod of my Jeep. I can say, for a CJ5 , mine has decent street manners. It's no autocross vehicle, but it seems to be fairly predictable.

You will need to get extended links with the 4" lift.

The sway bar helps on road and hinders you off road.
The sway bar keeps your jeep level as you go around a curve. My CJ5 is lifted with oversized tires and it has no sway bar. I have to be extra careful on the curves. I take them slower than other cars. But my jeep is for off road use. It's not a daily driver.
When you are off road removing the sway bar allows better articulation of the suspension. It allows the weight to be more evenly distributed on all 4 tires.

My last post was not entirely accurate.
A sway bar helps keep the vehicle level when the momentum of the vehicle wants to make the vehicle sway or tilt when going around a turn.
For that reason a sway bar is very important for desert racing but not for slow rock crawling.
