I've been researching whether or not my '79 CJ5 is a silver annivesary edition or not. The color was originally silver, and I have several things that seem to point towards a Silver Anniversary . The radiator has the code/year on the top, the firewall plate seems to have all of the correct codes, and the VIN# ends correctly. Here is what my firewall plate says:
J197120 5-31B
8C 1CS CC
J9F83AH845213 9300
Everything seems to add up to silver anniverary except the 9300 at the end of the last line. Supposedly that is what the wheel base is, but it is clearly a 5 (I measured wheel base of 83), and the 83 in the VIN# also suggests the same.
The 1CS CC suggests it was a Silver Anniversary package, and it also has a clock/tachometer which is one of the standard options. Any ideas? The jeep was repainted before I bought it, so some of the other identifying stickers no longer exist. I am planning a restore, but wasn't planning on restoring to the silver package, but if I have one of the Limited editions, I may change my mind.....
